Grantmaking Assessment
The Philanthropic Group conducted extensive surveys and provided a thorough assessment of the impact of 30 grant-funded projects representing $3 million in funding over a five-year period. This led to the foundation affirming the continuation of the grantmaking focus and strategies.

Grantmaking affinity group seeks a method to encourage funders across the country to do more funding in the field of aging.

Took Kit Development, Production, Publicity and Distribution
Leveraging relationships with national experts, The Philanthropic Group collaborated with an advisory committee to create a 40-page tool kit for funders. Activities included developing the topics and content that would interest many funders, identifying featured model programs, copy writing, photo selection, editing, design, production assistance, press release development, and target audience distribution by mail as well as via the Internet at www.giaging.org

National funder of children's programs requires research to explore future initiatives.

Issue Research & Reporting
The Philanthropic Group surveyed grantees of a locally-focused foundation, conducted focus groups, and documented strategic practices used as well as the results of grantees' work. A 25-page report assisted the national foundation in exploring a new intergenerational funding focus.

International financial institution managing a large trust seeks new guidelines for an established grantmaking program.

Refinement of Grantmaking Criteria and Guidelines
The Philanthropic Group recruited a national advisory team of nursing education experts and guided them in creating criteria for evaluating grant proposals for $500,000 scholarship endowments at nursing schools. Guidelines reflecting the new criteria were created.

Regional company seeks community impact and visibility in celebration of its centennial.

Leveraging Corporate Giving & Outreach
To build public image and leverage the time and talent of company employees, $1.4 million in grants was awarded to 87 one-time nonprofit projects involving employee volunteers in 63 branch communities. In addition, six $35,000 centennial awards were made to seven outstanding organizations across the company's region.

Independent foundation desires greater accountability in governance and operating policies.

New Policies for Governance and Accountability
The Philanthropic Group worked with the foundation's board to identify and prioritize the policies to be addressed. Background information was provided, including relevant articles, options, and sample policies from other foundations. After board discussion over several months new policies were approved for board member terms, conflict of interest, investments, and payout.
