Grantmaking Management
Focused on supporting the involvement of New York City and Long Island youth in improving and protecting their neighborhood environments, The Philanthropic Group serves as the staff of this foundation and provides assistance in annually awarding $700,000 in grants. This includes inviting and reviewing proposals, providing executive summaries for board meetings, disseminating board books, preparing board minutes, monitoring grants awarded, and coordinating with accountants and tax preparers.

Working in Partnership to Award Grants
The Philanthropic Group works as partner with a family member who has interest and knowledge in child welfare policy and in 19th century photography. Together we identify potential grantees, review and refine requests for funding, and make site visits. In addition we attend conferences and make presentations together.

Grantmaking & Project Management
Building upon client interests in the arts and aging, The Philanthropic Group created and implemented an "Art in Our Neighborhoods" program. Annually proposals were invited from nonprofits across New York City, and ten were funded to teach older people to create original art works. Each grantee hosted its own neighborhood art exhibition, from which jurors selected works to showcase in a month-long citywide exhibit of elders' art in the gallery of an international pharmaceutical corporation. Coordinated by The Philanthropic Group, a curator and a publicist assured significant recognition by the news media, including the Wall Street Journal.
